前作の失敗を慌てて克服した、というのが正直なところ。持ち前の朗らかな歌声を殺すことなく、初々しさが感じられるアルバムだが、特に目立って著名な曲はない。飯島真理ファンでない方にとって、セールスポイントがないのが残念。「名誉挽回アルバム」としての評価は出来るが・・・。購入して後悔することはないと思うが、満足できるかどうかは難しいところだ。本領発揮を果たしたということで、エールを贈りたくなる一枚。

飯島真理さんの3rdアルバム。

プロデュースは業界でもトップクラスのアレンジャーである清水信之先生。
1st『Rose』を「光」、2nd『blanche』を「陰」という感じで考えると、本作『Midori』はその中間的（やや『Rose』寄り）な印象があります。
一言で言うと、バラエティに富んでるという意味で「四季」といった感じでしょうか。

作風は王道ながら、清水先生ならではのアレンジが、曲をより一層深く繊細に表現していますね。

「いつものパーティー」ですが、シングルバージョンとは曲の終わり方が違っています。ヴォーカルも別テイクのようですね。

アルバムタイトル曲の「midori」は、曲タイトルから「カラフルな曲」だと想像される事だろうと思います。しかし、実際はとてもドラマチックで、このアルバムの曲の中では異色を放っている曲です。
簡単に述べると「『blanche』っぽい曲」です。

そして、本作の最終トラック「もののかたち―MARRON―」は美しいインスト曲です。この曲で、真理さんの新たな魅力を感じる事が出来るでしょう。

このように全体的な展開はある意味で「王道的」だと思います。しかし清水先生のプロデュースによって「単なる王道」を回避してる様は特筆すべき事だと思います。

今回『blanche』と同様に☆4つにしました。本作でも『Rose』を超えられなかったという事は否めない事実だからです。
しかし、曲的には充分満足出来る作品なので是非一度体験してみて下さい。

前々作のデビュー作「ＲＯＳＥ」では大きな反響があったのに、前作「ｂｌａｎｃｈｅ」で路線変更しすぎた真理さん。「これではいけない！」と路線を明るい方向へと引き戻したと言えるのが本アルバムでしょう。
冒頭の「僕の魔法」でさわやかな感覚を聴く者に与え、「ひとりぼっちが好き」「ファースト・デイト」･･･。このあたりではあの傑作アルバム「ＲＯＳＥ」に迫る出来栄え。
そして、「二つの風船」「恋は気ままに」へと彼女らしい明るい曲調のナンバーが続いていく。「二つの風船」は当時彼女がパーソナリティをしていたＦＭ番組のオープニング曲として長い間流されていたからファンの間でも結構人気は高い。「恋は気ままに」は最近のベスト盤「The Ultimate Collection83〜85」まで長い間ベスト盤から見捨てられてきた可哀相な曲だが、揺れ動く恋心をリズミックに描いた隠れた名曲。「いつものパーティー」も印象深いナンバーです。
しかし･･･と、私は考えてしまう。本作が秀作アルバムであることに異論はないのだが、それでも真理さんの実力はこんなもんじゃなかった。少なくとも、あの「ＲＯＳＥ」を聴いた耳には本作はそれでも物足りない。あの神秘的なメロディやアレンジはどこに行ったのだと。また彼女の歌い方がどこか当時のアイドルたちを意識していたようにも感じます。
でも、ここまで立派なアルバムを作ってくれたわけだし、やはり真理さんには感謝しなくてはいけないでしょうね。
