七人の侍/羅生門は名作。早坂文雄、そしてその助手の佐藤勝の映画貢献度は計り知れない。
しかし、早坂の死後、復刻されたこのCDは、オリジナルスコアによる再演奏とあるが、フイルムに付けられた演奏の感じそのままではない。一味違うのだ。
まさに、指揮にあたった、佐藤勝調になっているのだ。佐藤氏によると、昔の映画音楽は録音機材が悪く、中間部の音が書けなかったので、そのまま再現するとスカスカになってしまうので、その辺りを苦心されたらしい。
その結果、ある意味聞きやすくはなっているが、オリジナルのもっていた荒荒しさが、きれいに洗練され、ソフトになった感じは否定できない。
映画そのままの音・演奏を期待される方は、その辺りをあらかじめ心のどこかにおいて買った方がいいかも。
