　初めてこの作品を聴いたとき、前作「ミリオン・ミラーズ」と比較して音が太くヴォーカルもグラマラスになっていることに気がついた。アルバムのトーンとしてはアメリカのファンクミュージック（とくにプリンス）の音楽に見られるような粘っこさがある。後になって気づいたが一曲目のオーケストラとデジタルビートの融合などは、しばらくしてビョークなどのアルバムで試みられることになる。

ポップな曲とアヴァンギャルドな曲が同居した、これぞsoftballet！　というアルバム。
重厚なparade、ある時期の芝浦を想起させるwhite shaman、シングルとはアレンジを大幅に変えたengaging universe、全編英語詞によるパワフルなpiled higher deeper、ジャジーなmarble。

異色のgene-setsは、エレクトロニクスによる現代音楽のような趣。生命の誕生を工場における生産として描写しているものと解釈しました。
