お目当ては6番目の"Rush Over"で購入しました。これだけではなく、全体がサイコーで得した気分です。「ジャズとヒップホップとアフロアメリカンの融合」と"Tales(intro)"にせりふが入っているように、その言葉が当てはまっています。"Ehiopia"はアフリカ大陸を思わせるような曲、"Infatuation"などはヒップホップ感覚の曲です。

アルバムタイトルが"TALES"というように、アルバム全体がTales（物語）になっています。今は亡きジャズ界の大御所たち、マイルスデイビス、チャーリーパーカー、ビリーホリデイーなどのせりふが入っていたり、"Strange Fruit","forevermore"などもの曲の前にはイントロがあり、そこではジャズや愛についての語りが収録されています。
1番のお気に入り"Rush Over"は映画"Love Jones"のサントラ版にも収録されていて、歌が入っている曲です。

マイルスが無くなる直前に一緒にプレーをしていたマーカス・ミラーが
出したCDらしくマイルス・デイビスの未完の遺作「Doo Bop」と何か
通じる物があるアップテンポなJazzです。１曲目「ザ・ブルース」の
始まりに有名ミュージシャンの実声が入ってるのも魅力的です。
当然マイルスの独特なかすれた声も聞けますよ。

サンボーン他多くのミュージシャンのプロデュースをしているベーシスト、
マーカス・ミラーの第四弾となるソロアルバム。

レスター・ヤング、ビリー・ホリディ、チャーリー・パーカー、レスター・ボーイ、
ジョー・ザヴィヌル、マイルス・デイヴィス、デューク・エリントンの
肉声の入った曲から始まる。
ビリー・ホリディの名曲として知られる#8、
スティーヴィー･ワンダーの#9、この曲は国内盤だと"Joy Inside My Tears"を加えての、
メドレー形式のトラックとなる。
アース・ウィンド＆ファイアの#10はダニー・ハサウェイの娘、レイラを迎えてのナンバーで、
骨の太いサウンドの中にレイラの爽やかなヴォーカルが彩る。
タイトル・トラックのリプライズ曲の#13には、
スペシャル･ゲストとしてジョー・サンプルのラップというか、台詞が入っている。
