登川誠仁もすごいが、竹中労はもっとすごいと思う。この当時、誠ぐぁーがどの程度有名だったのかはわからないが、ともかく嘉手苅林昌ほどの脚光は浴びていなかったらしい。ごく最近まで本格的なアルバムが出されていなかったことをみてもそれは明らかだと思う。竹中労は、本土から見れば、いわば影に隠れていた誠ぐぁーに出会い、自ら録音し、メジャーレーベルから発売させた。この洞察眼と、行動力に驚く。
もっとも、このＣＤを聞けばわかるように、誠ぐぁーの演奏がそれほどに魅力的であったのは間違いない。今よりも荒々しさが際だち、｢とがった｣演奏をしている。竹中労は自らの思想に共鳴するところがあったのだろう。
さて、そうした背景に思いをはせながらＣＤを聞いてみる。枯れた演奏も味があるのだが、やはりぴちぴちした演奏を聞くと、民謡が一部のマニア向けの音楽ではなく、すべての年代に愛される踊れる音楽であることが分かる。最近の誠ぐぁーはハウリング･ウルフやナビィの恋、ソウルフラワーユニオンとの共演など、いわば傍流の活動が主になっているのだが、本流はこのＣＤの中にある。本流を聞き込んでから傍流を聞くとまた味があって良いものだ。

沖縄民謡→嘉手苅林昌さん→三線早弾きで有名だという登川誠仁さん、という流れでこのCDを知り購入しました。30年ほど前の登川さんvs嘉手苅さんの掛け合いの凄さ、面白さ、登川さんの三線早弾き＆太鼓の素晴らしさ！　JAZZの魅力にどこか通ずるものがありますね。
以前に見た「ナビィの恋」が大好きで、でも「あの長老」＝「嘉手苅林昌さん」だと知ったのは後のこと。そして、このCDを聴いて凄い凄いと思いながら、「あのおじぃ」＝「早弾きの登川誠仁さん」だと知ったのは、つい最近のことでした。
私のように何も知らずに「ナビィの恋」を観ていた方に、ぜひこのCDを聴いていただきたい。そして、飄々としたあの優しいおじぃの本当の凄さを知っていただきたいです。

その三線の音色は尖ることなく、本当に瑞々しい。
