クラシック・ファンである私は、十代のなかばから、もうすぐ５０歳に成る今日まで、ベートーヴェンの交響曲第６番、第７番を、生演奏と録音（ＬＰ、ＣＤ、テレビ、ラジオ）で、数え切れない程、聴いて来た。その数え切れない程聴いた中で、この２曲の最も良い演奏は、どれであったかと問はれれば、私は、迷ふ事無く、ムラヴィンスキーとレニングラード・フィルのこの録音と答える。本当である。ワルターの「田園」も、フルトヴェングラーの第７も、ムラヴィンスキーのこの２曲の演奏には、全く及ばない。較べ物に成らないのである。試しに聴いて頂きたい。私は、第６番（「田園」）の方は、１９７９年、ムラヴィンスキーが最後に来日した際、東京と横浜で、彼の生演奏に接して居る。その演奏は、私の忘れる事の出来無い思ひ出と成って居るが、この第７番も、本当に素晴らしい。（特に、第１楽章のゆっくりとしたテンポは、何と素晴らしい物だろうか。）この２曲に関する限り、私は、ムラヴィンスキー以外の指揮者の演奏からは、常に失望以外の何も感じないのである。--ムラヴィンスキーの音楽の特質は、そこに秘められた彼の孤独である。孤独こそは、モーツァルトにおいても、ブルックナーにおいても、そして、チャイコフスキーにおいても、ムラヴィンスキーの音楽を彼の音楽にたらしめて来た彼の芸術の秘密である。そして、それは、彼のこの「田園」と第７においても、同様に、決定的な特質と成って居る。--このＣＤを聴けば、それが感得される筈である。

マイクロフォンがクラリネットのすぐそばにおかれているのか、クラリネット協奏曲状態であり、まともなバランスで録音されていない。

もっと良い録音、演奏は山ほどある。

購入に値しないと思う。
