　アルバム『オブソリート』は日本盤が廃盤になったまま、というあたりから、本国アメリカとの温度差が感じられるが。その『オブソリート』からの日本独自シングルだ。カップリング曲3曲は、いずれもアルバム未収録なので、ファンは必聴。

　知らない人のために一応説明しておくと、フィア・ファクトリー(FEAR FACTORY)は、インダストリアル系のヘヴィ・ロック・バンド。咆哮するヴォーカルから、デス系に分類されることもあるが、正確無比のリズム隊と、時にキーボードを効かせたサイバーな音像から、ヘヴィなデジタル・ロックと表現する方が近いと思う。

　さて、このシングルA面「リザレクション」は、このグループにしては聴きやすい曲。キーボードが全面的に使われ、出だしは普通声で歌われる。一応、バラードみたいな作り。ただし、コーラスでは一気にスピードが上がり、咆哮する。テクノロジーっぽい詞も良いし、実際、結構売れた。

　ゴリゴリにヘヴィなのが好きな方はむしろ、カップリングの日本未発表曲をどうぞ。マシンガン・ビート、轟音ギター、重さの塊のようなサウンドがたっぷり聴ける。評判の良いA面に、レア・トラック満載のB面。なのに売れ残っているのが意外だ。

かなりヒットしたカバー曲「カーズ」、リレコーディングされた「コンクリート」、プレステソフト提供曲の「メサイア」が聴ける。「カーズ」は、フィアファクがやればインダストリアルテイストに仕上げられ、これはこれでカッコいい。メサイアは、ループするバッキングだが、もう少し手を加えれば新曲でもよさそうな気がする。コンクリートは以前のバージョンよりもこちらのほうがサイバー感があり、強烈なバッキングのおかげでまるでコンクリートドリルで穴を開けているよう！レイモンドは宇宙人の疑いあり！
