「ベスト・オブ」と名のつくアルバムは数多くありますが、これこそ真にその名に値するものです。

マディ・ウォーターズのひとつのピークがここにあります。初期のアコーステッィクから離れ、エレキに自分の本質を見出した喜びの時期といえるかもしれません。

1950 年前後に録音されたこのアルバムには、その後独り立ちした、また、ブルース界の重要なミュージシャンが参加しています。Jimmy Rogers はマディ・ウォーターズのバックマンとして出発しました。また、Otis Spann、Willie Dixon のその後の活躍はあまりにも有名です。Little Walter のブルース・ハープも聴けます。

これからブルースを聴いてみようかと思う方へも、また、ロックは聴き飽きた(?)という方にも、お薦めです。魂の音楽を再発見する一枚になるでしょう。
