ドラムスの　ジョン　ハイズマンがリーダーと言う珍しいグループの
コロシアム（コラシアムが正しい英語発音だと思うのですが、もともと
ラテン語なので、日本語ではコロシアムで正しいのかも、、、、、）
彼等の７７年に発売された作品です。　＃７。　スター　メイデン、
＃４。　キャッスルズ、　＃５。　ファイティング　トーク、　＃８。

ラスト　イグジット　等素晴らしいナンバーが８曲収録されています。
このグループで注目すべきは、　ゲーリー　ムーアがギターで参加して
いた事です。　キーボードにドン　エアリー、ベースにジョン　モール
そして最も重要なメンバー、　ディック　ヘックストール　スミスの　
サックスも彼等の独特なサウンドを作り出すのに一役かっています。

ジョン　ハイズマンのドラムスは最高。　ゲーリー　ムーアのギターも
素晴らしい音を出しています。ムーア　ファンにも楽しめる一枚です。

昨秋「ストレンジニューフレッシュ」が未発表曲満載の２枚組でキャッスルよりリリースされたので、つづく２作（本作は２枚のうち後の方に出たもの）もジャズのレコードではないですがいくつもオルタネイトテイクあるのでは？と思ってました。でもボーナストラックはなし。２作とも１９７７年にリリースされており、セッションや別プロジェクトでメンバーは忙しく、ほとんどライブの形で録音されてます。ほんとうに余分なトラックはないのかもしれません。２４ビットリマスターで生の臨場感がさらに高まっていると思います。ジョンハイズマンのタムの音、フレーズにあわせて歌っているような音？もきこえてきます。幻聴かなあ？ところで「トミーデラックス盤」同様レーベルがゲフィンになっています。原盤をもっている企業の考え方のようですが、盤に３３と１/３というＬＰの回転数まで再現しているのにＭＣＡの虹のレーベルでなく、その頃なかったゲフィンのレーベルになっている点はマニアには？かも。私はリマスターの音がよいので、まったく致命的な欠点とは思いませんでしたが、ご報告しておきます。

当時、フュージョンとかクロス・オーバーとかがはやり始めた頃だと思うのですが、コロシアム２のこのアルバムの攻撃性は郡を抜いていたように思われます。メンバーすべて歴戦の勇者！　ジョン・ハイズマンがすごいのはあたりまえ！　そこに若きギター戦士ゲイリー・ムーアがまっこうから戦いを挑む！これぞ、ブリティッシュ『職人芸』ロック！　なんと言っても、ゲイリー・ムーアがいきなりスパニッシュ・ギターを弾き出すのにはびっくりしました。
