アコースティック・ギター片手に瑞々しいメロディーとたたみかける優しい歌声でＭＣＡからデビューしたのが７６年発表の本作。全編にかけて奏でる彼のアコギはまさにピュアの一言。全て聴き終わった後の感はまるで粋な恋愛短編集を読んだかの様。一般的には次作「水色の手帖」が彼の最高傑作とされているが、２作目とあってややスレた感が否めない次作より、デビューまで書き溜めてきたという様なピュアで瑞々しい曲が並ぶ本作の方が数段彼のソングライターとしての魅力を引き出している。その魅力にひかれ自らかってでたエリック・クラプトンやアート・ガーファンクルの参加が本作への期待の証拠。尚、本作はロングセラーを続け２年後のグラミー２部門にノミネートされた。

「BISH」の愛称で親しまれている、Mr.AOR「スティーブン・ビショップ」の’76年にリリースされたデビューアルバム。「雨の日の恋（Save It For A Rainy Day）」や「オン・アンド・オン」のヒット曲を収録したアルバム。冷静に考えると今から28年！も前の作品になるのですね…。今聞いても色褪せる事が無いのは「名盤」と呼ぶにふさわしい楽曲の数々の出来の良さだと思います。個人的には？が付きますが、クラプトンがギターで参加しているのも話題になりました。この後に発表されたセカンドアルバム「BISH」も名曲揃いなので是非聞いておきたいアルバムです。
