おっさん達、留まる事を知りません。
この年でもう既に何枚も名盤を作っているのに、それらを更に超える傑作を作りました。
インタビューで書いてありましたが、曲を作っているときに”ジョンレノンが舞い降りてきた”などと言っているほどの最高な状態で作成したベストを除く９枚目の作品はエアロ現時点での最高傑作といわざる得ないでしょう。

全ての曲が素晴らしく、全ての曲の演奏が素晴らしく、全ての曲のミクシングも素晴らしく、全ての曲のアレンジが素晴らしい。
全く持って非の打ち所が無いとはこのことです。

このアルバムは必聴盤。ヒット曲がたくさん生まれたというのはむしろ補足でしかない。

前作パンプが大ヒットして完全復活を印象づけたエアロが、次にどういった作品を作ってくるのか大いに興味が集まった。当時ハードロックが下火になりつつあり、もう後が無いと個人的には危惧していたが、とんでもないアプローチでさらに飛躍を見せた彼らに本当に度肝を抜かれた。

サウンド面でもオススメできる理由がある。ギターバンドであるエアロのギターがすごく良く聴こえるのだ。ジョーとブラッドのギターがきれいに録音されていてすごく聴き応えがある。正直「パーマネント~」以降のアルバムのギターは轟音の一つのうねりみたいなサウンド作りで、はっきりとしたギターが聴き取れず、そういう面ではあまり好!ではなかったのだ。その点このアルバムは曲のクオリティでもサウンド面でも100点があげられるアルバムだ。

エアロスミス通算１１枚目のアルバム「Get a Grip」
個人的にはこのアルバムがエアロスミスの最高傑作だと感じます。
以前、スティーブン・タイラーが「このアルバムは僕等にとってのサージェント・ペッパーズ・ロンリーハーツ・クラブ・バンドなんだ」と語っていました。
その言葉に恥じないぐらい、このアルバムの完成度はずば抜けています。
特筆したいのが、やはり前半の部分「Intro〜Livin' on the Edge」の部分でしょうか？
エアロスミス特有の「爽快感」が体を駆け抜けていきます。
あとラストの「Amazing」も素晴らしいですね。
僕自身、このアルバムは何回聞いたかわかりません。そして何回聞いても飽きることはありません。エアロスミスの最高傑作だと思います。
