私は勿論リアルタイムでニルヴァーナを聴いてましたが、正直言ってグランジという言葉がいまいち馴染めません。単にアメリカンロックとして聴いて気に入っただけのことなもんで。だいたいパンクにしろグランジにしろマスコミが勝手にあおっていただけでしょ?そんなもんに振り回されているような奴は真のファンとは言えないと思うよ。このアルバムはそんなもんとは無関係によく出来たアルバムだと思う。でもいろいろな人が指摘しているように、このアルバムがニルヴァーナのすべてではありません。彼等の魅力のほんの一部分でしかないし、このアルバムだけを聴いてニルヴァーナをかたり尽すことは出来ないと思います。もしこのアルバムを聴いてニルヴァーナが気に入ったら他のアルバムも是非聴いてみてもらいたい。このアルバムとずいぶんと違う感想を持つかもしれないが、それもまたニルヴァーナの魅力の一部分なのです。

90年代ロックの伝説となった2ndアルバム。

前作の荒削りなサウンドは一変。
磨き上げられた大理石のようにシャープでソリッドな音に仕上がっている。

(1)Smells Like Teen Spiritから(12)Something In The Wayまでの全12曲は、
質の高さ、音楽的な幅広さ、緩急の妙、どこを取っても間然とするところがない出来栄えで、
まさに名作と呼ぶにふさわしい。

スタジオアルバムとしての完成度は次作『IN UTERO』をも凌ぎ、
本作品をもって、NIRVANAの最高傑作と言っても差し支えないだろう。

一方で、この作品で聴かれるNIRVANAは本来の姿とは全く異なるという批判も多い。
他の音源を聴けば、その批判が正しいことはすぐにわかるだろう。

しかし、『NEVERMIND』が本来の姿であろうとなかろうと
人々は『NEVERMIND』のNIRVANAを求め続けた。
このアルバム最大の誤算はまさにこの点にあった。

ロックを分かるというのは。
もし、ロックを分かるという事がニルウ゛ァーナを分からなくなるという事なら、その事程哀しい事はないと思いました。
