全体が薄もやに包まれた夢の世界での話のように感じる。
大きなEDENという世界の中に、曲ごとの小さな世界が点在しているような、そんな印象のアルバム。

まさに夢の世界をうたった「RECALL」は、曲全体がふんわりやさしく夢見るようで、このアルバムの
代表曲だと思う。
一方で、哀しい夢の世界の方で代表曲といえるのは「LASTLY」。

荒涼とした孤独の世界が胸にしみる。

そんな世界の中で「STEAL」のジャジーなノリは刺激的。恋するためなら悪夢も痛みも恐れないと
いう、少し病的な愛の歌によくハマった曲調。
「ANUBIS」の妖しさも「RECALL」までのやわらかな雰囲気を引き締める良いスパイス。
（そういえばこのリズムって密かにドラムンベースじゃないかと思うのだけど。）
LUNA SEA流の夢の世界へと心地よく誘ってくれるアルバム。

完成度でいえば、やはり『MOTHER』がLUNA SEAの代表作になるのだろうが、
私は敢えてこの『EDEN』が彼らの最高傑作であると言いたい。
このアルバムは「綺麗」という言葉が似合う。
『楽園』という名の悲しいほどの「美しさ」。
この耽美こそが当時のLUNA SEAの魅力だと思うので、
それがもっともよく表れているこの『EDEN』は
本当にすごくいい。

もちろん演奏や歌も素晴らしい。

93年の3rd。インディーズ時代の作風をそのまま受け継いだ前作と違い、今作はサウンドに明確な変化が見られる。インディーズとは違った形のメジャーのルナシーを確立させようという意志を感じる。だからと言って単純にLUNASEA・IMAGEとMOTHER・STYLEの間を取った作風でもない。このアルバムの先にはMOTHERやSTYLEとは違った形のルナシーの未来が見えるような気がしてならない。ルナシーのサウンドの変遷の中でも独特な位置にある、非常に興味深いアルバムだと思う。
「JESUS」はAメロのワイルドさとサビの透明感が対照的。「BELIEVE」は切れ味の良さと澄み切った空気をまとった曲。ギターソロがメロディアス。「Rejuvenescence」はギター旋律が切なくて良い。「RECALL」は卒業の歌？目を閉じ、意識だけが何もない真っ白な世界に浮かんでいるような感覚に陥る。「ANUBIS」は倒錯的。女性とでは得られぬエクスタシー、人ならぬ存在との狂った愛。同時に、音楽・楽器演奏で得られるエクスタシーを表現してもいるのだろう。「LASTY」はギターが陰鬱に嘆き、歌声も絶望と狂気を滲ます。ラララ…と不気味な歌声が響く静寂から、独特の暗さと幻想性に満ちた音空間へ発展する間奏、更に感情が押し寄せるクライマックスへ…ドラマチックで圧巻。「IN MY DREAM」は後の「IN SILENCE」にも通じる空間の広がりを感じる。「STEAL」は「IN MIND」等と同系。マスケラは「人類機械化計画」をこの曲の影響で作ったのかも。「LAMENTABLE」は躍動感抜群に疾走。サビへ向けての飛びかかってくるような盛り上げ方にしびれる！「Providence」はSHADEの静寂部がバラードとして独立した感じ。「STAY」はキャッチー。最後のサビの背後で前奏のギターが甦るのが良い。
