ストーリーが実話ということもあり現実味があり、非常に感動できます。
白血病のジョーイを取り巻く兄、ジョンをはじめ、その他両親や他の兄弟のどうすることも出来ない無念さ、ジョーイが喜ぶならなんでもしてやりたいと言う優しさが感じられます。
兄ジョンはハイズマンというアメリカ大学フットボールの賞を貰います。
その席でのスピーチで「この賞は自分だけではとれなかった、ジョーイのおかげだ、ジョーイにこのトロフィーをあげようと思う」と泣きながらジョンは言います。
とても作品としてよく出来ていると思いますし、とっても感動できます。
素晴らしい作品です。

現在日本は少子化が進んでおりますが、白血病の弟のために両親・兄弟が色々な援助を行い、協力して行くストーリーですが、白血病の弟が家族の絆を深め・家族・兄弟に生きることのすばらしさ、長兄がアメリカンフットボールの選手として成長して行く、そしてハイズマントロフィーと言う栄誉に輝く、その祝賀会に於いて全米に対して、ハイズマントロフィーは自分だけでは受賞できなかった。受賞させてくれたのは、白血病の弟ジョーイによって獲得できたと発表した。感動を得られる、作品だと思います。

１９７３年のハイズマン受賞（全米大学フッボール最優秀選手）した元ＮＦＬのプレイヤー、ジョン・キャパレッティの実話の映画化。彼には白血病の弟がいた。そして弟にとって兄はヒーローであり。兄も弟に勇気を与える為に精一杯生きる姿が感動。映画としては、ドキュメンタリータッチでナレーションなどが入り、あまり完成度は高くないですが実話という事もあり観る物の感動を誘います。中でも最後のハイズマン授賞式でのマークシンガー扮する兄のスピーチ「僕には白血病の弟がいます・・」と話始めた瞬間、顔が崩れ、泣きながらスピーチを続ける姿に涙しない人はいないでしょう。ジョーイは兄や家族に見守られながら世を去りますが、ジョーイや家族がいなければ、ジョンはハイズマンを受賞していなかったかも知れません。映画マニアよりも、家族で観る映画です。廃盤になって久しいですが、ぜひＤＶＤ化して欲しい作品です。
