夏と冬が好きなユーミン。
冬は零下に下がると空気が凍ってできるダイアモンド・ダスト。
それを夏のスキューバ・ダイビングででる泡にたとえる。
見事な感性です。
明るい歌なのに、その中に悲しみが含まれているのがとても素敵です。

この頃までのユーミンは、僕にとって、ニューアルバムを待ち焦がれるほど魅力的でした（この次作から？で、以降追っかけが終わった）。このアルバムも名曲揃いの傑作です。とりわけ好きなのが、「想い出にまにあいたくて」「Ｌａｓｔ　ｓｕｍｍａｒ　ｌａｋｅ」「霧雨で見えない」の３曲でしょうか。この頃は、サウンド的にも打ち込みドラムと生ドラムの併用がみられ、転換期の傑作という気がします。そんな中で、「霧雨で見えない」は詞も素晴らしいのですが、ジョン　ロビンソンのドラムとエイブ　ラボリエルのベースのしっとりとしたリズムに、松原正樹のブルージーなギターが絡み、ユーミンの中でも、とりわけ上位の曲だと思います。今はコンサートにはたまに行きますが、曲はこの頃までが一番良かった気がするのは、僕だけでしょうか。

何度も聴いたアルバムです。
一曲一曲がそれぞれに個性的で、捨て曲なしと言ってもいいと思います。
タイトルチューン、「ダイアモンドダストが消えぬまに」は、さすがユーミン！と感心してしまう歌詞の魔術にキャッチーで綺麗なメロディが加わって、いいようのない切なさを運んで来ます。
シングル「SWEET DREAMS」は、女性ファンに圧倒的人気という名曲。

5曲目の「TUXEDO RAIN」は、とても美しく静かなウエディングソング。
個人的にものすごくお勧めなのは、「LATE SUMMER RAKE」！とにかくかっこいいので、是非聴いてください！スルメソングとでも言おうか、聴けば聴くほどはまってしまいます。
