初期のユーミンは、正直なところリアルタイムで味わったわけではない。だとしても、インパクトは大きかった。が、一枚選べと言われれば、「パールピアス」。ジャケットがいい。サウンドがいい。そして歌詞がいい。派手すぎず、暗すぎず、それでいて遠赤外線のように、優しく心にしみてくる。乱暴な言い方をすれば、初期ユーミンが大人になって帰ってきたような。日曜日。このアルバムを聴きながら、無言で二人、夕焼けに向かって道を走らせていた若かりし頃がよみがえる。今でも時々聴き返す。昔の自分に会えるような。これはいいアルバムだ。

ユーミンのファンではなく、アルバムは３枚しか持っていないので多くを知っているわけではありませんが、このアルバムは８０年代中頃以降、現在に続くユーミン節あるいは、正隆流アレンジとは趣が異なる作品だと思います。リズム感やキャッチ-なメロディーを求めるのではなく、しっとりとしたおしゃれなメロディー感を味わいながら、ちょっと心を休憩させるのに丁度いい出来になっていると感じます。ユーミンファンではないながら、この２０年間ときどき出しては聞きつづけている私は、PEARL PIERCEファンなのでしょう。

この人は、「時間や季節を切り取る名人」であるのは誰もが賛成するところでしょう・・・。

日本人の中では希有な程。って言うまでもないですね。

彼女の作品の中で、このアルバムほど、過ぎ去るものの、その一瞬の臭いを切り取っている曲が集まっているものは他にないと思います。

最近はマクロな視点が多くなってきた彼女ですが。
曲を聴いた瞬間

「.5.夕涼み」
「6.私のロンサム・タウン」
「7.DANG DANG」
など、
適切な描写の残酷さで心臓が止まりそうになる曲は、このアルバムの中にしか入っていません。

ユーミン自身「大人にしか聞いて欲しくない」と言っていたアルバム。
人気がないのも納得かも？？。
だってこの国の大人って・・・（苦笑）とか（涙）
と言うときに聞くアルバムだと思います。

１２才で姉のレコードを無断借用して聴いたとき、届かない大人の世界を実感しましたが・・・その実感は今も変わっていません。
