「恋人はサンタクロース」「サーフ天国、スキー天国」という大変目立つ、賑やかで明るい２曲の間にひっそりとおかれた「シーズンオフの心には」。この曲に、このアルバムのコンセプトが端的に現れているのではないかと思います。　このアルバムはリゾートアルバムとして名高いわけですが、ユーミンは、ただ楽しくわいわい騒ぐような明るさだけではなく、祭りの後の寂しさとか、またそれに伴う人恋しさいうようなことをも表現したかったんじゃないかなと思うんです。　たとえば、「灼けたアイドル」のなかの、陸サーファーの描写とか、「シーズンオフの心には」「雪だより」などに、よく表れているのではないかと思います。

確かにSURF&SNOWや恋人がサンタクロースみたいな有名曲が収録されているけど、聞くべきは岡田真澄との「恋人と来ないで」とか「灼けたアイドル」「まぶしい草野球」「雪だより」のように歌詞をかみしめる曲にあると思われます。ホイチョイプロの映画からユーミンの曲を聴くようになった場合はあまり思うことがないのかも知れないですが、ユーミンの曲の本質は歌詞にあると思います。

有名盤ですが、このアルバムとか「ＬＯＶＥ　ＷＡＲＳ」あたりのみで
ユーミンの世界を語られるのは、ファンとしては正直、辛いです……（笑）
とはいえ、ジャパニーズ・ポップスの名盤であることに間違いはありません。
個人的なオススメは、
“ああ　時はさざ波　私たちを離ればなれ遠い島へ運ぶ”

という歌詞が切ない「灼けたアイドル」とか、最近のコンサートで急に
メジャーになった「人魚になりたい」などでしょうか
「雪だより」もわりと人気が高いみたいですね~。
