映像と音楽の関係というものは面白いものである。ある時期からこのことに気がつき、特に気に入った映像作品の場合、サントラ盤を買うことがある。いくら音楽が好きだからといっても何時でもRoger Watersの様なものばかりを聴いていられるわけでもない。例えば本を読む時や仕事をする時のBGMが欲しい時、レベルの高いサントラ盤は重宝するものである。そういう意味では、この作品は非常にクオリティーが高くお勧めである。もっぱらBGM用として愛聴しているが、ふと気がつくと千住真理子のヴァイオリンに聴き入っている自分を再発見したりするわけで、収められている楽曲はかなりのハイレベルである。
サントラ盤を買う時、私は映像との複合効果でかなり期待して買うことが多いのだが、聴いてみてがっかりすることが多い。例えば「太陽を盗んだ男」のサントラ盤には失望した（DVDは稀に見る傑作であり必見であるが）。
余談ではあるが、映画「スワロウテイル」の二枚のサントラ盤、「スワロウテイル」 「MONTAGE」（YEN TOWN BAND）は日本のサントラ盤の秀作であると思う。
野島伸司の作品はかなりDVD化されているが、「世紀末の詩」もリリースして欲しいものである。

不思議と、いいなと思った曲は千住明氏の作品であることが多かったです。要するに私は千住明氏が好きなんですが、そんな千住明氏を始めて強く意識したのがこの「世紀末の詩」のサウンドトラックです。
ドラマが好きでたまたま手にする機会があったので聞いたのですが、ここまで秀逸なサウンドトラックは聞いたことがありませんでした。
映像があった時にはとても素晴らしく思えても、何もなく純粋に音だけで聞いてみると何かが違う……そう思うのはよくある話だと思いますが、これは映像など関係なくただただ素晴らしかったです。ドラマを知っていればまた別の感慨深さもありますが、知らない人にも是非聞いてもらいたい作品です。
千住真理子氏の、あの絡みつくように濃厚で悲愛と艶に満ちたヴァイオリン音色が、何とも言えずマッチしていて素敵です。
現在は中古で手に入れるしかないようですが、「世紀末の詩」の一曲はよくオムニバスCDに収録されているので、その一曲を聞いてから購入を検討されるのもいいかもしれません。
全てが素晴らしい一枚です。

このドラマの魅力の半分は音楽にあるといっても言い過ぎではない。
私が千住明を始めて知る機会にもなったサントラでもある。
ジョンレノンの歌もちゃんと収録されているのが素晴らしい。
彼の歌なくしてはこのドラマはあり得ないのだから。

いまだに折に触れてこのサントラを聞き続けている。
ファンにとっては永久保存版である。
