今から20年前punk.newwaveばかり聞いていた頃友達に早川義夫を聞かせてもらい感動に振るえジャックスを聞くようになりました。完全に逆行聴きです。信じたいためにすべてあらゆる大きなものを疑う、一生忘れられないフレーズです。

言わずと知れたジャックス一枚目のアルバムにして最高傑作。「マリアンヌ」イントロから「♪あぁらしのばぁんが〜すぅきさ〜」と怨念たっぷりにインしてくる早川義夫の声を聞く度に毎回ためいきが洩れます。「ああ、何てかっこいいんだろう」。これぞ日本のオリジナルロックにしてキング・オブ・アンダグラウンド。現代の「ビジュアル系」なんて全然勝負になりません。40年以上経っているのに全く古びて聞こえないのは優れた音楽の証です。これは日本における「Abbey road」だ、と言っても言い過ぎではないでしょう。

友達と聞いても盛り上がらない。昼間のﾃﾞ-ﾄでは絶対ＮＧ。ｶ-ｽﾃで流せば気分が落ち込む。それは保証出来る。
早川義夫の歌は上手くない。それは理解出来る。
だけど、ｼﾞｬｯｸｽは止められない。真夜中に一人で聞いていると、時代に消費され尽くした歌とは明らかに違う説得力に打ちのめされる。

＜からっぽの世界＞ばかりが有名だが、早川義夫作の＜ﾏﾘｱﾝﾇ＞、＜われた鏡の中から＞、＜ﾗﾌﾞ･ｼﾞｪﾈﾚ-ｼｮﾝ＞などは永久に語り継がれるべき名曲である。真実の叫びが聞きたい人には避けて通れない名盤と言える。
