2ndアルバムはジャケットが示すように多様性にあふれたアルバムとなった。それと同時に歌詞の方は更に切なさを増している。これは彼らが音楽に制約を与えない証拠であり、同時に自分の感情は絶対に曲げない頑固者でもあることを示している。もし彼らの歌詞を自己憐憫だと考える人はもう少しちゃんと読み取って欲しい。そこにはどうしようもない現実が見えてしまう悲しさと同時にそれでも生きていくという意志がある。

GREAT3の音は、何度聴いても「慣れる」ということがない。そのくせ、聴くたびに「この音たちがやっぱり好き」と安心してしまうのだ。
音とリズムと片寄さんの声と。どれも安定しない感じをかもし出しつつ、ピンポイントのベストバランスを決して踏み外すことがない。その均衡に、いつも恍惚とさせられる。この『METAL〜』は、そんなGREAT3らしさを存分に含みながら、十分一般受けもすると思われる名曲が揃っている。生で聴きたいなぁ…。

ふと今作のラスト「LAST SONG」がアタマの中を
流れ出したので今書いている次第です。

この歌はリアルタイムで聴いた10年？前は、
デタラメなドラムサンプリングがかっこいいな~、
なんて思ってましたが歌詞がすごすぎますね。

片寄氏の声質は
こういう鬱入った心情風景を歌わせたら
まさにグレイト！影とかマイバニーアイズとか
