大好きな作品だ。ジャケ通り、闇夜を駆け抜ける夜行列車のようなサウンド。全体に暗く冷たい、陰鬱な夜のイメージだ。例によってワケありの、変な内容の楽曲が多いのだが、ペット・ショップ・ボーイズ定番の、甘くせつないヴォーカルと躍動感あふれるビートは健在で、じっくり聴き入ってしまう。今回は、流麗な生オケ導入の楽曲が多くて、モチーフの屈折感をいっそう際立たせている。うーんエレガント＆ゴージャス！これは彼らの独壇場でしょう。１０曲目はカイリー・ミノーグとのデュエット。ミノーグのファンは必聴。

pet shop boysの暗い一面を強調したアルバム、ナイト・ライフ。
当初は、イマイチ、ボクもウケがよくなかったのですが、
聴くほどにその世界に入り込み、スルメのように味が出て、名盤と思えるようになりました。
中古盤で入手していたのですが、当初の日本盤は、折り込み式紙ジャケ仕様になっていて、
NIGHTLIFEタイトル記載の透明エンビケースに入れるようになっていました。
エンビケースを外すと、タイトルのないジャケになるという凝った作りでした。
その後の通常盤は、プラケースの普通のＣＤでしたが、しばらく廃盤状態が続いていました。
で、今回２００９年８月、どうやら再プレスされたようで、通常盤が入手可能となっています。
在庫がある内に買っておきましょう！！
輸入盤が、ブックレットが粘着しやすく破れやすいという難点があったので、
今回ボクも買い直しました。
できれば、海外盤の初回盤（ボートラＣＤ付き）を復刻してもらえないかなぁと願っています。

このアルバムは幻想的なサウンドが魅力な極上ポップアルバムです。。声もすごくキレイで気持ちよく聴けると思いますよ。。個人的には２，６，１１番がお気にいりです。。
