　時代の３歩くらい先を行ってた７０年代の作品群や、ウルトラセールスを記録したこの後の「レッツ・ダンス」に比べると実験性でもセールス面でもやや地味な印象がありますが、ロバートフリップが弾きまくるムチャクチャカッコイイ表題曲やボウイにしかなし得ない美しさのアッシェズ・トゥ・アッシェズ、隠れた超名曲ティーンエイジワイルドライフと佳曲、名曲がそろったこれも名盤。ボウイの作品群の中ではそんなに尖ってない部類なので聴きやすい方だと思います。

5.0 out of 5 stars ＲＣＡ時代の最後を飾る名盤, 2001/12/7
ジギーやレッツダンスに比べると今一つ認知度は低いがこれはＢＯＷＩＥの最高傑作の一つです。前作ＬＯＤＧＥＲと比べるといわゆる当時の「はやり音」を取り入れてます。これで弾みがついてレッツダンスのヒットに結びついたと思います。特に海外ではＬＯＷ以降落ちつづけた売れ行きがこれで上向きになったと記憶しています。「売れ筋」感と「別に売れなくても構わん！」度の微妙なバランスが良い味だしてます。
