Recorded at the peak of the band's '60s popularity, this album is a collection of previously unreleased live tracks from Japan, where the Ventures have been stars for nearly 40 years; instrumental rock transcends every language barrier. The 29 songs collected here represent a virtual live greatest-hits package, cut on ancient, Buddy Holly-vintage three-track tape machines, including: "Caravan," "Pipeline," "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" and "Journey to the Stars." 5.0 out of 5 stars ビートルズをはるかに凌駕していた５０万枚！？, 2004/2/26
思い起こせば４０年前のとあるレコード屋さん。このアルバム(１の方ですな)を手にした時の天にも上るほどの感動は未だ味わってないような気がする。初任給が２~３万円だった時代に５０万枚も売れた。(当時の１，８００円という価格を今にあてはめると１万いくらにもなる)バカ売れである。ビートルズをしのぐ異常な人気ぶりだった。

いうまでもなく、この盤こそがベンチャーズのベストである。まさにロック！当たるをすべて蹴散らすごときのパフォーマンスぶりは今なお背筋がゾクゾク。バンブル・ビー、ワイプ・アウト、ドライヴィング・ギター・・・すべてが気合いに満ち溢れている。

音質についてだが、２の方は全世界発売だったコンプリート~が圧倒的にスゴイ。(１のリマスタリングも強く望みたい)バス・ドラの威力は１が優れている。ギターの音色はベンチャーズ自身は２が良い、と言ってるそうだが、個人的にはアンプとのミス・マッチングでやや歪み気味の１の音がサイコー。

「ほんわかのんびりした音」「場末の喫茶店でよくかかってる」「おじさん方のナツメロ」バカヤロー！！！なあにいってるんだ(怒)ちゃんと聞いてから文句言え！・・・ともかく音楽人生を変えたこの１枚。強く皆様におすすめしたい。

楽器が何であれバンドや楽器をやっている人には絶対オススメの１枚です。（ロックに必要な全てがこの１枚で堪能出来る事でしょう。）それにしてもこの「気迫」は半端じゃないですね。時代が変わり表面的には
とてもラウドな演奏のロックバンドもプロ、アマ問わず世の中にはたくさん出て来ましたが、本当の意味で「気迫」と言う物を感じさせるバンドは極めて少ない様に思います。このライブの年代は今の時代の様に「上手く行かなきゃコンビニでバイトでもすれば良いや、、、、。」と言う様に仕事が簡単に見付かる時代では無かったでしょうから、「これで喰って行くんだ！！」と言う気持ちが音になって出ている様に思います。そのハングリー精神こそが生み出す「本物のグルーヴ感」を体感して下さい！！とにかく問答無用でオススメの一枚です！！

　私の初コンサートは「テリーとＢＪ」でした。初外タレは・・・ヴェンチャーズでした。団塊の世代よろしくとばかり、父親の「ロック英才教育」のお陰でどっぷりとロックにハマっています。
　
　最近、私用で聴き直す機会があり「ヴィニール」な円盤で、父親とその仲間たちな方々とお話させて頂きました。「正直、別世界の音。」バンマスな方はこうも言いました・・・「やっぱり、メルの太鼓だよ・・・」一同納得されていました。

　尋常じゃないキープ力。ピッコロばりの硬いスネア。ボンゾより熱いバスドラ・・・ノーキーばかりに目がいくのは、アマチュアバンドの「痛い」法則で、実際突き詰めると「若い」イキの良い音がデカイ・ドラマーじゃないと勤まらないくらい「大変」なヴェンチャーズ。

　過小評価されている「メル・テイラー」。時間と余裕はできたけど、若さと体力は戻らない。モズライト買ってコピーバンドも良いですが、太鼓だけは若いウチの弟（笑）。そろそろ、ディープインパクトな洗脳から解き放たれて、聴くだけに専念してほしい・・・。解説じゃねぇ・・・申し訳ない。
