デュラン・デュランを初めて聴く人には最適のベスト盤だと思います。
ただ気になったのは「セイヴ・ア・プレイヤー」が編集されていて、
オリジナルヴァージョンと違い、曲が短くカットされています。
歌詞を見ながら聴いていたら急に数行飛んでしまいました。
最初、USシングルヴァージョンって何なのかな？と思っていましたが、
できればオリジナルヴァージョンで収録して欲しかった。
他にも「リオ」がオリジナルと違ってフェイドアウトが早いのが
気になりました。以上のことがなければ星5つだけに残念です。

80sのムーブメントの１つ、ネオロマンティクスの雄として出発したバンドですが、ただのアイシャドウ塗り塗り美形アイドル??路線で終わらず、ロックバンドとして数々のヒット(全米1位も!)を飛ばした実力派でもあります。
実は、初期のヒット以外はリアルタイムで聴いていなかったのですが、こうやってベスト盤で聞くと、最初のメンバーチェンジ以降は、随分と初期のバンド色を払拭しようとしているのが分かり、興味深いですね。
"RIO"、"Hungry Like the Wolf"..いや懐かしいです。次のベスト盤が出る頃には、また新たな変化を見せてくれるかも知れませんね。

先日久しぶりに来日して、すっかりおじさんになってしまっていたのを見て、ショックでしたが、このＣＤはひさしぶりに80年代へ戻らせてくれました。ニューロマンティックの走りで、フリルつきブラウスを着て、唄っていたすがたが、目にうかんでくる、そんな1枚です。
