   <1>などのトップ10シングルを5つも生み、アメリカだけで700万枚のセールスを記録した。この時点ではまだドメスティックなレベルの人気であったことは否めないが、何となくユーモラスでホットな彼らのロックが、全世界レベルになるのはそう遠い話ではなかった。（春野丸緒）

ヒューイ・ルイスの張りのあるヴォーカルは見事につきます。
ヒットチャートは。
「I Want A New Drug」-6位　　「The Heart Of Rock & Roll」-6位
「If This Is It」-6位　　「Heart And Soul」-8位　　「Walking On A Thin Line」-18位、と続々とヒットをとばしました。3作目にしてブレークしたアルバムです、当時はいきよいの良いバンドで違和感のない誰でも馴染めるロックナンバー曲が並ぶこの作品はヒューイ・ルイス＆ザ・ニュースの代表作です、実にパッピーなバンドで彼らを知るうえで忘れてはならないアルバムです。痛快ロックを聴きたい方にはよろしのではないかと思います。

1983年リリース。彼らをMTV世代の主役にした第3作。
このアルバムからは何と5枚がシングル・カットされ、いずれもトップ20入りし、1983年の夏から1984年いっぱい1年以上に渡り彼らがチャートにいなかったことがないというオバケ・アルバムである。その時点で800万枚のセールスを記録するも、あのマイケル・ジャクソンの『スリラー』に1984年の年間1位は奪われている。マイケル・ジャクソン恐るべしである（●＾o＾●）。

今聴いてみるとMTVの画像が脳裏にダブる。

アルバムの最後にアメリカン・カントリーの大御所ハンク・ウィリアムスの『ホンキー・トンク・ブルース』をやっていたりする。ジョン・マクフィーがペダル・スティール・ギターで参加している。この辺がなかなかニクイ（●＾o＾●）。閑話休題、800万枚売れたアルバムが悪いわけがないでしょう。

これを聴いてヒューイ・ルイスのファンになりました。楽しくなければRock'n Rollじゃないと言う感じの曲ばかりでとにかく元気が出ます。この後にPower Of Loveで更にBIGになっていくのですが、私はこの頃のHeart Of Rock'n Rollを歌っているヒューイが一番好きです。ブルースのBorn In The USA、ブライアンのRecklessに並ぶ80年代アメリカン・ロックの３大アルバムのひとつだと思います。
