一枚目にしてベスト。
荒削りながら心に伝わる。
楽器のほとんどを彼自身が担当、どれもいい味だしてる。

これが本当に新人かと思わせるような出来映え。ホーン以外の楽器は全て彼一人で演奏しているというから驚きの才能。今ではコンサートでの定番「レット・ラブ~」や「アイ・ビルド~」は素敵なバラード。超ヒット曲「アー・ユー・ゴナ~」の様な疾走感のあるﾛｯｸは無いけど、レニーのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑの中では僕の一番お気に入り、今ではこれを一番良く聞きます。特に「ミスターｷｬﾌﾞﾄﾞﾗｲﾊﾞｰ」はチープな8bのﾛｯｸサウンドが心地よく名曲。「ビィ」なんかも美しいピアノ調べが耳から離れない美しいバラード。それとフォーキーなブルース調の曲もあったりと1stにしてレニーの全てが味わえる名盤。ビンテージのアナログ録音機材を使っている事もあり60・70年代の音楽が好きなら絶対気に入る。ﾌﾗﾜｰﾑｰﾌﾞﾒﾝﾄ・黒いｼﾞｮﾝﾚﾉﾝたる由縁十分説得力のある新人であり、今日の活躍が容易に想像できるすばらしいｱﾙﾊﾞﾑです。

レニーのセンスは普通に人にはわかりにくい。しかしレニーはあえて普通の人にも聴かせるようにしてくれている。
そんな才能だらけのレニーがデビューで爆発したのがコレ。
全曲素晴らしいセンス。ロックかソウルか？ブルースか？様々なバックグラウンドが見えかくれするが、すべてすんなり心の中に入ってくる。
珠玉の一枚とはこのことだ。
