ビーチボーイズの音楽がアメリカングラフィティを撮らせたと思う。
その音楽は、世紀を越えた今も輝いている。本物だからだ。
ビーチボーイズを聞くなら、迷わずこのアルバムがベストだ。
このアルバムを聞けば、その時代に特有のある感情が帰ってくる。
とても個人的な、思い出に近い感情なのに、どうやら
６０年代を経験していない者にも、強い共感を生み出すらしい。
ビーチボーイズが示したテーゼは、今も鳴り響いている。
夏は、終わらないのだ。

今でも真夏の浜辺はビーチ・ボーイズの曲がかからなければ、どんよりとした曇空のままだろう。
夏には、絶対必要なアイテムがこの作品です。サザン・オールスターズと一緒に持てば日本の夏は乗り切れるはず。
このアルバムは、偉大なビーチ・ボーイズのベスト・アルバムである。１９７４年に発売され、ベスト・アルバムでありながら全米ＮＯ．１に輝いた。

ビーチ・ボーイズを初めて買おうとしている方には絶対お薦め！

このアルバムはリアル・タイムで購入しました。しかも輸入盤でしたっけ。２枚組でした。日本盤ではなかったので、解説書やら歌詞カードがついていませんでした。それでもサウンドだけで、ＢＢ５のよさがびしびし伝わってきました、なあなんて思い出にふけってしまうアルバムです。それこそオリジナル・アルバム以上に良く聞きました。
その後、日本盤もリリース（１枚もので、２１のグッド・バイブレーションが追加収録されてました。）され、ＣＤもベスト何とかシリーズでリリースされました。邦盤アナログもＣＤも、その後購入しましたが、私にとっての思いいれはやはり米国盤アナログ２枚組に軍配が上がります。それと何よりも、あの名盤｢ペット・サウンズ｣からの楽曲が入っていなかったのも、私にとって幸いしたのかも知れません。あれが無いおかげで、表題の終わりなき夏を堪能できました。
ところが数十年後の今、一番聞くＢＢ５のアルハムは｢ペット・サウンズ｣になっちゃいました。
アー、このアルバムこそが、私にとっての‘夏の日の思い出’アルバムです。
