世代的に知らなかったのですが、ＴＶのナツメロのような番組でジャニスイアンさんを見ました。ピアノの弾き語りのように恋は盲目を歌っていられました。年輪を感じさせる歌声、しかし決して古くはない。心に響くあとまで残る深い歌でした。ラブ　イズ　ブラインドで始まる大人の歌だと思います。

ジャニス・イアンの「恋は盲目」「ウイル・ユー・ダンス？」がＴＶドラマのテーマ曲に採用されて彼女は日本で注目を集めました。彼女は、容姿端麗でもなく、鼻も低い、それでいて感受性の強い女の子の気持ちを歌にして、日本の若者に大変な指示されました。彼女の曲は、言葉に出していえないような切ない気持ちを現した詩に、ピアノとギターを中心にした楽器で味付けられていて、とても味わい深く魅力的です。彼女が一番輝いていた時期は１９７４年~７６年頃だと思います。このアルバムはその頃のヒット曲は勿論、それ以外の時代の作品も収められていてジャニスの魅力を知るのに役立ちます。初めて彼女の曲を味わおうという方には、お薦めです。
