ゴンサロもそうだが、キューバのピアニストはテクニック抜群、演奏のスケールが特大。チューチョはイラケレのリーダーという認識が先にあったが、ピアニストとしても超大物。これはブルーノートからの第4作となる99年のライヴ盤。ダイナミックな演奏で観客を圧倒、さすがチューチョという快演を繰り広げている。ラテン・ベースの曲中心だが、そのなかに「サマータイム」の一節を挿入したりと、サービス精神も旺盛。クラシックで鍛えた華麗なテクニックとジャズ・スピリットの融合がとにかく見事。 (市川正二) --- 2000年05月号

初めてキューバンジャズを聞いたが、・・・感動した。今までに聞いたどんなジャズピアニストの演奏よりもダイナミックでパワフル、それでいて繊細でやさしい音色を放つ彼のピアノは必聴である。また、アレンジも今までに聞いたことのないもので、ノリがよく、楽しい。このCDを聴くと、もっとキューバジャズを追求したくなる、そんな１枚だ。
