   1996年に発表したブルーノートでの第2作。前作『Blue Light Til Dawn』もそうだったけど、ブルーノート入りしてからのカサンドラ・ウィルソンはジャズ・ナンバーだけでなく、ブルースやフォーク曲なども積極的に取り上げるようになった。
   ちなに本作はオリジナルが5曲で、ほかにU2、サン・ハウス、ハンク・ウィリアムス、ニール・ヤング、さらにはモンキーズのヒット曲まで取り上げていて、まったくもって驚きの選曲だ。これに関してカサンドラは以前インタビューした時、こんなふうに言っていた。「プロデューサーのクレイグ・ストリートの意向でもあった。でも私の場合、デビュー当時はギターの弾き語りでフォークやブルースを歌っていたから、別に唐突というわけではない」。<1>はビリー・ホリデイの名唱で知られる曲だが、カサンドラはビリーにインスパイアされながらも完全な自己流で歌っていて、ビリーとはまた違った意味で感動的だ。バンジョーやペダル・スティールなどを加えた独特の楽器編成もユニーク。（市川正二）

ハスキーで弾力のあるボイス。男性の声かと思うほど中性的で妖艶だ。それをアコースティックギターを基調にした生音に情感たっぷりにのせていく。高い声を聴かせるわけでもない。テクニックで聴かせるわけでもない。単純に歌がうまいのだ。感動させるのだ。現代最高の歌手、９０年代最高の歌手など様々に賞賛されるのは決して大袈裟ではない。音楽史上最高の歌い手の一人として名を連ねても、彼女が唯一無二の個性である以上、異論の余地はないのかもしれない。彼女を何かのジャンル枠内におさめるのも意味のないことだろう。演奏も実にいい。伴奏と歌という風な対立関係はなく、協調し合って一体となっている。文句なしカサンドラ・ウィルソン最高傑作アルバム。（96年度スイングジャーナル誌選定ジャズディスク大賞ボーカル賞受賞作品。）

十代の頃に初めて聴き、一曲目で断念。ガキには少し早すぎた、のかもしれない。社会人になり、改めて耳を傾けてみると、ボーカルの概念がひっくり返るほどの衝撃を受けた。高い声、澄んだ声がいわゆる「いい声」と思い込んでいた自分が、今は懐かしい。カサンドラの声に込められた感情は、僕の未知な領域にまで及んでいて、聴くたびに新たな発見がある。しばらくの間は声にばかり耳がいっていたが、落ち着いて聴いてみると、作曲やアレンジの凄さにも気づかされた。ちゃんと抜くべきところでは、音抜いてるんだよな。その辺はプロデューサー、クレイグ・ストリートの腕もあるのでしょうが。とにかく、こいうのが音楽ってもんだろ？と自分が作った訳でもないのに、威張りたくなる、問答無用の大名盤。

音楽が好きならこのアルバムは聞かなきゃだめです。カサンドラの後の作品も含め、こんな音楽はめったに聞けません。
