一言で言うと硬派
クリスマス曲は多彩
そしてアーティストは一流
ＪＡＺＺが好きそしてクリスマスもＪＡＺＺにまみれたい
と言う人にお勧めな一枚です
とにかくＪＡＺＺってます
ＪＡＺＺに聞きなれてる人には程よいアレンジで楽しめますが
聞きなれてない方は多少きつく感じられる楽曲もありますので
そこらへんはお気をつけくださいね

クリスマスをテーマにしたブルーノートのコンピレーションアルバム。
新旧織り交ぜたラインナップになっているけれど、（その当時の）新しい録音作品は
総じて微妙なのが多くて少しガッカリ。ジャズっぽい雰囲気はあれどジャズではない、
という曲多し。モンク作曲のクリスマスソングは期待してたのだけど、モンクの魅力が
全く生きてない酷い出来でした。良かったのは11ぐらい。
逆に古い音源は少ないながらも魅力的。チェット・ベイカーによる5はイントロだけで
一面の雪景色が浮かぶ様な透明感だし、カウント・ベイシーのビッグバンドによる曲は
他の冴えないトリオやカルテットよりよほど繊細かつまとまりがある演奏。
企画モノに本腰入れる自分も大人気ないけれど・・・でももう少し音楽としても楽しみたかった。
ジャケットはパロった本家同様素晴らしいです。
