　1998年収録の２席。
　『住吉駕籠』は、上方落語の中でも、個人的に好きな噺ベスト５に入る爆笑ネタ。
　この噺は、はっきりしたストーリーがあるわけではなく、住吉街道の駕籠かき二人組と、他の登場人物との掛け合いだけで、笑いを取らなければならない。演者に相当の力がないとダレてしまう難しい噺だと思う。
　その点、このＣＤの吉朝の高座は安心して笑える名演。酔っ払いが同じ話を何度も繰り返すあたりの可笑しさにも、吉朝の「芸」の力を存分に味わえる。
　後半、堂島の米相場師が登場してから噺が一気に加速し、笑いも加速度的に増していくあたりは、聴いていて至福の一瞬。

　もう１席の『かぜうどん』は吉朝の十八番。東京落語の『うどんや』とほぼ同じ噺だが、上方の型の方が、話の流れ（うどんやが声を潜める理由にしても）は自然な感じ。
　吉朝はさすがにうまく、冬の夜の凍てついた寒さと、うどんの温かさが心にしみてくるような、味のある高座だと思う。

殊に「住吉駕篭」は完璧。素晴しいの一言。
「かぜうどん」、冬の夜の空気感がひしひし伝わる。
云うても詮無き事乍ら、高座での所作はどんなであったか、見たかったなあ…。
