僕自身は、わりとあっさりした演奏だと思います。

しかし、今まさにこの曲（ピアノ協奏曲第一番）を練習している息子によると、
「一番すごいし、ショパンの心をつかまえている」のだそうです。

息子には、ツィマーマンの色々な版や
ブレハッチのＤＶＤ、アルゲリッチ、フランソワ、
あるいは僕のお気に入りのブーニンのものを聴かせているのですが、
中から選びとったのが、このポリーニのＣＤでした。
何度も何度も繰り返して聴いています。

そして時々、「わあ凄い！」とひっくりかえっています。

実際に協奏曲レベルを弾ける人と、私のような手なぐさみの音楽ファンでは
意見が異なることがあることは分かっていましたが、
まさかこの若きポリーニ版が我が家のピアニストに「理想の演奏」として選択されるとは思いませんでした。

でも、そう思ってあらためて聴くと、「なかなか良いな」と思うから不思議ですね。

本作は1960年にワルシャワで行われたショパン国際コンクールに若干18才で優勝したマウリティオ・ポリーニの優勝記念にロンドンで録音されたものである。ご存知の方も多いと思うがこのあとポリーニは約10年間忽然と消え去り、イゴール・ストラヴィンスキーの『ペトルーシュカ』で復帰する。ショパン・コンクール優勝者としては希有な履歴である。すべての『謎』はこの中にある（●＾o＾●）。
実際には1968年のロンドンのクイーン・エリザベス・ホールのショパン・リサイタルでポリーニはカムバックするわけだが、グラモフォンに格納されたカムバック後のショパンとこのショパンを比較すればただただデモーニッシュさの格段の差を感じずにはいられない。忽然と消えた10年間、ポリーニはみずからの10指に完璧にコントロールできる『悪魔』を宿したのだ。

閑話休題。フレデリック・ショパン(1810-1849)がこのコンチェルトを残したのも丁度ポリーニのこの録音の時期の年齢と重なる20才前と言われている。当時ショパン国際コンクールで審査委員長を務めていたアルトゥール・ルービンシュタインが彼を評して、「技術的には 私たちの誰よりも上手い」と絶賛した演奏を本作で聴くに10年後に再登場したポリーニの演奏をルービンシュタインが聴いたら何と評しただろう、と思いは広がるのだ（●＾o＾●）。

ポリーニのショパン国際コンクール優勝直後の録音であるが、このとき技巧的には既に完成された演奏を見せている。難しいところをさらりと弾いてしまうところがこ憎らしいくらいだ。古い録音だが音は悪くない。ご心配なく。オーケストラも良い。

収録されている曲がピアノ協奏曲第1番だけ、というのが物足りないが、逆に第1番だけでもお腹いっぱいになってしまう内容で、超お勧め！
