今でこそちょっと癖のある歌い方をしていますが、この頃はまだまだ
初々しくはつらつとした歌声が印象的です。
だからこそ「乾杯」のようなメジャー曲が生まれたのかなという気がし
ています。
全体的には、曲のコンセプトがばらついているそんな気もします。
しかしながらこれがフォークだな…というのをリアルタイムでフォーク
全盛時代を知らない私たちのような世代に教えてくれたそんな気がいたします。

この頃はまだ自信幼かったので全く知らなかったのですが、学生時代に初めて手にとって今とのギャップある楽曲と歌唱でびっくりしましたが、こういうフォーク色が強い楽曲もこれはこれで素晴らしいと思います。
全体的にこのアルバムはマイナー調の曲で占められている印象で例えば「順子」や「素顔」とかそいういう系が好きな人にはぴったりだと思います。

この時代の曲はライブでもアルペジオやスリーフィンガー奏法を用いていたらしく、因って弾きがいもあり私も暇を見つけてはこのアルバムの曲を好んで弾きます。

中でも気に入っている曲が「顔」でイントロのギターアレンジとかも最高なのですが、歌詞が中々意味深くて好きですね。

「風は南から」「逆流」と、いわゆる普通のフォークっぽく、恋愛をメインのモチーフにしていた長渕剛だったが、このアルバムから方向が変わっていった。厭世観というか、自分を社会の日陰者のように扱うというか、のどかな日だまりを捨ててあえて裏路地への路線を選んだように感じる。その中でもタイトル曲「乾杯」は従来の路線を踏襲した歌だったが、後年ガラッとアレンジを変えてセルフカバーした。
このアルバムでファンの好みは二分したのではないだろうか。私は従来の路線が好きだったので、長渕を聞かなくなった。
