実に2年ぶりのニュー・アルバムは、“稲垣ポップ・ワールド”のオンパレードだ。ソングライターとしてではなく、むしろシンガーに徹した今回の作品では、煩わしい作業から解放された稲垣の伸び伸びとしたヴォーカルが光る。稲垣自身が作曲を手掛けたのは、(7)と(9)の2曲。日本テレビ系『素顔が一番!』のエンディング・テーマとなっている「愛のために僕は変わる」では、エモーショナルなヴォーカルを聴かせている。
サウンドは、あくまでもポップの王道路線。こうした音は今の若い連中にはできまい、とでも言いたげなベテランならではの余裕がうかがえる。夏にはツアーをスタートさせるというが、久々に足を運びたくなってきた。70年代音楽の洗礼を受けた世代にとっては、このサウンドの原体験からどうしても抜けきれない。そういえば最近、とんとご無沙汰だった、クロスオーバーやフュージョンなんてジャンルを聴きたくなってきたのも、今の音楽に食傷気味だからかな。 (小林泰介) --- 2000年07月号

最初に聞いたときは「Stand by~」、既にシングルで出ていた「君の瞳は~」、映画「アイ・ラブ・ユー」の主題歌となった「小さな~」以外の曲がまるで耳に残りませんでした。しかし、何度も聞きたくなるアルバムで、何度か聞いてようやくどの曲も耳に残って、そしてどの曲もこのアルバムのこの位置でないとダメなんだって思えるくらいぴったり当てはまっていることがわかりました。

「Stand by~」は歌詞がとても稲垣さんに自然にはまっています。「小さな~」は映画で聞いてとても気に入っていた曲ですが、映画のときよりも少しテンポを落としているように聞こえます。 「サフィア」は、前奏の雨を思い起こさせる優しいピアノとそれに合う歌詞がとてもいい。
見た目は地味かもしれませんが、聞けば聞くほど味が出る、そんなアルバムです。
