このCDの発売当時、宅録ミュージシャンがメディア的にもてはやされていた。中村一義を筆頭に、閉塞した空間のなかで、独白的な切れ味鋭い名曲をリリースする彼らは、いわゆる「音楽通」に受けが良かった。

COILは、どちらかといえば一般の、通ではない人々に聞いて欲しいアーティストだと思う。単純に心地良い＋軽いヒネリで癖になるメロディ、日常を面白く、かつ自然に切り取る詞。どれも受け入れるパイは大きいと思う。
そして、サウンドはとにかくマニアックかつ繊細。このバランス感覚は、セールス的にはもっと売れて良いと思うのだが…。

というか、同じ事務所のスガシカオ/山崎まさよしと比べても、才能とクオリティ的には同一、もしくはそれ以上だと僕は確信している。
