何となく松本隆の作詞の実験場として使われていたような気がします。よくよく聞くと、松本隆の作詞パターンが盛り込まれているのです。
「ねえ、君　男と女には友情さえもないんだろうか？」そんなフレーズを含んだこの作品が出た頃、私は１０代前半でした。しかし、４０を過ぎてようやくこのアルバムの意味が分かってきたというか、奥の深さが分かってきたというか、そんな気がします。

フォーライフを設立してから「明日に向かって走れ」「クリスマス」「ぷらいべえと」「大いなる人」とエレックやソニー時代に比べて著しくクオリティの低い作品が続いていたが、本盤はスタジオ作としては初の２枚組みということでとても期待して聞いた覚えがある。
しかし、結果は期待はずれだった。理由は松本隆の詩が岡本おさみの書く世界に比べてあまりにも陳腐であり、また「わけわからず」や「海に帰る」などの拓郎自作の詩もなにを言っているのか本当にわけわからずといった感じだったからである。
本盤は２枚組という点では力作だと思うが、ただそれだけで内容的には「元気です」や「今はまだ人生を語らず」の方が１枚物ではあるがはるかに名盤だと思う。

ボクはこのアルバムがリアルタイムだったのでとても思い入れがあります。
フォーライフの低迷期からこのアルバムをきっかけに’７９武道館〜篠島〜と流れていったワケで。いわば第２次黄金時代の幕開けを告げるアルバムだったと思います。
２LP＋１シングルというボリュームは確かに１枚にまとめたらという意見もわかりますが、これはこれで良いと思います。
ボクには１０曲にはしぼれないな〜
「ローリング３０」、「外白」「白夜」「言葉」「冷たい雨が〜」「爪」等の名曲はもちろんの事2005年のツアーで予想できなかった１曲目「恋唄」（しかも恋の歌のインストとメドレーで）や「ハートブレイクマンション」「虹の魚」等渋いながらも近年のライブでも採用されるという事はご本人もそれなりの位置づけをしているアルバムなのかなと思います。
「英雄」はプレスリーの事を歌っていたと記憶しております。
名盤という意見に賛成です！
