アニメ史上に、金字塔を打ち立てた『ガンダム』の最新劇場版のサントラ。全体に重厚な感じのするBGMは、2時間余りというこの作品の中で、富野作品の持つハードなドラマづくりとミックスし、相乗効果をあげている。

逆シャアのサントラ。劇中で何となく聞き覚えのあるような曲はほとんど入ってますね。ラスト１曲以外は全てオーケストラによるものです。つまり、劇中と完全に同じ曲。変なアレンジは無いので、安心して買うことが出来ます。個人的にはエンディングで流れてた曲（ＴＭＮでなく）が一番好き。

私が始めて購入したＣＤが本作です。

MAIN TITLEを始め、心の琴線を振るわす名曲が目白押しです。
ことに7.GUNDAM(ニュー・ガンダム)など、勇壮さの中にも他の連邦軍の援軍を期待できず単身アクシズへ攻め込むロンド・ベルの悲壮さを感じさせます
そしてなんと言っても圧巻は14.AURORA(オーロラ)。まさに第１期ガンダムサーガのラストを飾るに相応しい曲。悲しげな曲の始まりからどことなくアムロとシャアの願いをこめたような切なげな旋律。しかしラストの薄暗い地上を背景にした今後の世界を予感させるラスト・・・。
おそらく、劇場版ガンダムのサントラとしては本作が最上位でしょう。
（ＴＶ版はＶガンダムのサントラだと思いますが・・・）

前作のＺ、ＺＺに続く三枝成章氏による楽曲。
曲の雰囲気はＺ、ＺＺと同じものだが、ＴＶ版だった
Ｚ、ＺＺの”その場の雰囲気だけの楽曲”というものに
対して”鑑賞のみにも十分耐えられる完成された楽曲”
というイメージが強く、完成度が非常に高い。

基本はオーケストレーションだが所々シンセによる演出も

あり、ただのオーケストレーションに終わっていない。
これぞ三枝氏の魅力と言えるものである。
アニメ映画だと馬鹿には出来ない卓越した音がここにある。
