聖飢魔IIの初めてのBEST教典ならぬWORST教典。
デビュー教典から第５教典までのLIVEの定番曲や名曲を集めて再収録してあります。
再収録してあるので原曲よりいい出来に仕上がっている曲が多いです。
大教典には収録されていない名曲「STAINLESS NIGHT」も収録されています。
初心者にも聴き易い大教典になっています。

　1番ユニゾンミサ曲から始まって2番、3番と「怪人の声」が出てきて爽快に流れるが、6番「NEVER ENDING DARKNESS」で一転。オリジナルは「BIG TIME CHANGES」収録曲で寂寥感が先行する曲だったのが、今回のリミックスで一変。余計なコーラスやパッドが削がれ、ベースライン、ドラムの骨格が表に出て、ヴォーカルが深く染み通った。
　この「再構成」のおかげで曲の意図、閉塞感に満ちた、希望も生き甲斐のない世界に不幸ながらも生まれ落ち、自由をもがれて生殺しにされる亡者の様がスクリーンに浮かんだ。
　そうかと思えば7番「EL.DO.RA.DO」のように曲調を聞いていて安定・安心感たっぷりなものにしたものや、10番のようにこれでもかとばかりループをつなぎ合わせて徹底的に長尺化した遊び心満点の曲もある。
　アルバム自体がそれまでのベストのようでいて壮大な実験作のようだが、これでうまくまとまるのはひとえ悪魔的な巧さに尽きる。

聖飢魔IIが一番世に知られていた時期の作品なので、信者以外の人でも聴いた事がある有名な曲が多いと思います。

正直言って、聴き応えがあるのは断然後期の作品ですが、聖飢魔IIらしさというかイメージが強いのは、前期であるこの作品の中の楽曲ではないでしょうか。それ故に聖飢魔IIを知るにはまずこの「WORST」をオススメしたいです。まさに初心者が聴き易い教典です。
