聖飢魔II２作目の大教典。
またこの大教典を最後にZOD星島親分(Ｂ）が脱退します。
１曲１曲の間にデーモン閣下のナレーションが入っています。
聖飢魔IIミサ曲第II番「創世紀」「THE END OF THE CENTURY」「JACK THE RIPPER」「蝋人形の館」「FIRE AFTER FIRE」など聖飢魔IIの定番曲や名曲が多く収録されていて捨て曲が無いのでいろんな人に聴いてほしい１枚。

　１９８６年、聖飢魔IIのセカンドアルバム、すなわち本作である「THE　END　OF　THE　CENTURY」リリースし、世間の注目を集めた。本作が彼らの出世作になり、またデーモン小暮の名も知れ渡るようにたったことから本作は彼らの代表作にふさわしい。

　本作の曲調はというとブリティッシュメタル風のサウンドにブラック　サバスやオジー　オズボーンとかいったホラー的なコンセプトを追加したような内容だ。聖飢魔IIの名曲中の名曲でもある6をはじめ、ハードなギターのイントロが印象的で初期の聖飢魔IIの代表曲でもある8などが収録されており、本また作に収録されてる曲の中では最もストレートなナンバーの5も彼らの名曲の一つであり彼らの代表曲がかなり収録されている。また2や3も個人的にも気に入ってる。また聖飢魔IIファンの間では本作の発表当時はレコード盤とCD盤の内容はやや異なっていた作品としても知られている。

　まさに本作は聖飢魔IIの代表作だということはおそらく間違いないだろう。

HM,HDファンではなかった私が買ってしまった、不幸にも聞いてしまったらもうホント悪魔に心を売ったも同然！、まさに虜です。そこから人生変わっちゃいました。
HMってギターソロばかりが前面に出てしまう感じがあるけれど、ベースが陰に隠れてしまわないところが魅力的です。
信者でない友人でさえもなぜか口ずさむこの一枚。20年近くたった今でも手放せない逸品です。
