　マーク・リアリ (g) 以外のメンバーを一新、全く新しいバンドとして生まれ変わった6作目/1988年。超人的なハイトーンを誇るNEWシンガー：トニー・ムーアを擁し、哀愁を帯びたスピード・メタルを展開。メタル史上に残る傑作を作り上げた。

　新Vo. トニー・ムーアは、歌だけでなく、高い「作詞・作曲能力」も備えていた。更にベースの "DVS"（ドン・ヴァン・スタヴァン）も、現在インダストリアル・バンドを率いているくらいで、曲が作れた。結成時からのリーダーのマーク・リアリと合わせて「三本の矢」を持った本作は、全編楽曲が優れている。

　バンドの代表作となったスピード・チューン「Thundersteel」、環境破壊をテーマに採ったシリアスな「Sign Of The Crimson Storm」などのメタル・ナンバーが人気だが、リコーダーのイントロで始まるバラード「Bloodstreets」も哀愁を帯びた素晴らしいナンバー。
　また、「恐れられていた街のリーダーが舞い戻ってきた」と歌う「Johnny's Back」は、メンバーお気に入りの曲。いかにもアメリカンな内容だが、決してチープにならないのがRiot流。出身はアメリカ(N.Y.)だが、整然とした音作りはむしろヨーロッパ的。

　ライオットは本作で、「これだ！」というバンドの作風を確立。以降、メンバー・チェンジを経ながらも、この路線を守り続けている。本作と同じメンバーで作られた、次作「The Privilege of Power」（プリヴィレッジ・オブ・パワー）も名作なので、こちらも併せてお勧めしたい。

　尚、Tony Moore は、2007年に新バンド：Faith And Fireを率いてシーンに帰ってきた。

かっこよくて耳に残る歌メロがのった楽曲群、ギターも適度にスピーディーで泣きの部分もあって・・と、まさに「痒い所に手が届く」という表現がぴったりのヘヴメタルアルバムだと思います。古きよき時代の正統派ヘヴィメタルファンにはこたえられない内容ですね。ちょっと線が細い感じもしますがトニームーアのハイトーンヴォーカルは素晴らしいです。この作品は彼のおかげでここまでの内容に仕上がったものと思います。

　このアルバムの一番の聞きどころは，やっぱりトニー・ムーアの超人的なヴォーカルかな。
　でも楽曲も優れてるし，バントとして一体感のあるいい演奏をしていて，とてもいい感じです。
　パワーをエモショーナルに満ちあふれたアルバム，そんな印象ですね。
