1．CBSソニーの日本独自の企画もの。
2．70年後半のハンコック･バンドが特定のボーカリストを全面的にバックアップ。
3．笠井紀美子全盛期の作品。
4．ハンコックの隠れた名曲"Tell me a Bedtime Story"のボーカル･バージョン収録。しかもこの曲のハンコック自身による再演はこれしかない。

他にもいろいろありますが、ただ一つ残念なのはここでハンコックが使用している当時のヤマハのシンセサイザーの音に厚み、深みがないことです。これは同時期の「ダイレクト･ステップ」にも言えることです。

70s後期からポップス色を強めて行った笠井紀美子女史(vo)が、これまたメインストリームものと並行しながらもポップ/ファンク(ディスコ?)色を出していたH.ハンコック(key)と共演し、最も成功した作品と言える一作('79年作)。
バックの布陣が強力である点は言うに及ばず、笠井女史がこれまで歌ったであろうタイプの曲とは異なるH.ハンコック作品に果敢に取り組んだ点でも非常に興味深い作品ではないでしょうか。
今の時代ならフリー・ソウル等のコンテキストからでも充分に対応できる内容は流石に素晴らしく、ポップな味を全開に歌う[1]を始め、隠れ名曲との噂が高い(^^;[2]、何より個人的にはタイトル曲の[7]にやられます。
時代が良かったと言えばそれまでになってしまいますが、多分、二度とこのような時代が来ないであろう事も事実。それだけに、この素晴らしい作品が手軽に入手できる有り難みはひとしおなのでしょう。ほんと、いい作品です。
因みにバックの布陣はP.ジャクソン(b)、B.サマーズ(perc)、B.モウピン(sax、bcl)、A.ムザーン(ds)、W.ルイス(key)、R.オビエド(g)。

う〜ん夢の共演ですね!ただ...こんな事云うのはアレですけどハンコック目当てで買うとほと
んどの人ががっくりくるんじゃないかとねぇ。。ちょっとピンとこないね。ただ...ね、ただ
骨組みの脆さを補って余りあるほどのふくよかな肉付けがある!そうそれが笠井紀美子の歌声
だ!!!この人こんなに歌えるんですよ?まさに絶頂期これ以上歌えてるのが他にあるかな?いや
ないな。

[2]の「テル・ミー・ア・ベッドタイム・ストーリー」も名演だけど、やっぱ初っ端のアップ
テンポナンバーが最高ですかね、うん。もうぅぅうね最高っッって感じ。
やっぱこの人は速い曲の方が断然魅力がでます。

ってな事で笠井紀美子さんを聴いてみたいけどどれから聴こうか迷ってる方には個人的にこの
一枚を強く推します。
