   レコード会社の洋楽ディレクターの仕事の1つに、オリジナルタイトルの邦訳というのがある。当時の担当者も懸命に頭をひねったのだろうが、ラインナップされたタイトルはおもしろすぎ！ これだけでも国内盤は買いである。
   もとい、こちらはそれまでの地道なライヴ活動が実を結び、ついにその名を全米にとどろかせることとなった、75年発表の3rd作品である。ハードロックの新たなカリスマ出現に音楽シーンは沸きかえり、その勢いで既発の2アルバムもゴールドディスクとなった。
   85年にRUN D.M.C.がカバーした<4>は本作に収録。（春野丸緒）

エアロの最高は、やはり「ロックス」ということになってしまうが、それでも本作は当然、「ロックス」とともに必携の名盤であることに変わりはない。
ライヴでも定番で、他アーティストにカバーもされている超有名な 1.、4.、6.は当然のこと、「ロックス」の最後にも甘い系バラードが配置されていたことを考えると、この時点で次作のプロトタイプが出来上がっていたことを確信させる 9.、アメリカン・バンドらしい、ビッグ・バンド風アレンジにのせた5.他、アメリカン・ロックの名作にふさわしい充実した内容。「ロックス」のダークネスと比べると、なんかオープンで無邪気なかんじが強いところが対比的である。

とにかくロックしている。ロックと一口に言っても幅が広いアルバムだ。
1曲目はギターイントロからヘビーだ。疾走感もある。
現在における新作（Honkin' On Bobo）に通じるトコロもある「BIG TEN INCH RECORD（イカした10インチレコード）」やライブでの定番ナンバーの「SWEET EMOTION（やりたい気持ち）」「WALK THIS WAY（お説教）」などは、このアルバム収録だ。

エアロのバラードとしては3本の指に入る名曲「YOU SEE ME CRYING（僕を泣かせないで）」もこのアルバムの最後に収められているのにも注目だ。
これだけ名曲が揃っていて、またトータルクオリティーも高いアルバムは珍しい。お世辞抜きで捨て曲がない。曲順も良い。
後作のロックスと比較が難しいほど、完成度の高いアルバムだ。

エアロスミス大躍進のきっかけとなった、この作品にこそ『飛べエアロスミス』という邦題を付けてあげたい。
前作までの泥臭さが薄まり、洗練されてきた。
一曲目に飛び出すTOYS IN THE ATTICに驚いた人も多いはず。
明らかに前作とは雰囲気が違います。
そして、なんと言ってもWalk This Way と Sweet Emotion 。

ライブの定番曲となったこの曲を聴かずしてエアロスミスを語るなかれ。
このオリジナリティこそ、現在もエアロスミスが最前線で活躍し続けている理由なのだ。
個人的には、やはり次作『ロックス』が最高傑作なのだが、これを最高傑作と言われる方も少なくない。
言い直します。このアルバムを聴かずしてエアロスミスを語るなかれ。
