伝説のロック女王、ジャニス・ジョプリンのベストアルバム。
スタジオでレコーディングされた歌だけではなく、ライブ音源も入っており聞き応えは十分です。
特に、４曲目の１９６７年のモンタレー・ポップ・フェスティバルでの「ボール・アンド・チェーン」には鳥肌が立ちます。
奇跡のライブ音源といえるのではないでしょうか。

このアルバムではジャニスの軌跡が辿れます。
伝説のロック女王について知りたい方は、「Janis Joplin's Greatest Hits」よりもこのアルバムをお勧めします。

彼女の叫びを聞くだけで、心はジャニスの時代にワープする。あの時の感動、あの時のもやもや、すべての感情が歌声とともに帰ってくる。音楽ってすごいなと感じさせてくれたのはやはりジャニスだった。

説明不要のロックの女王。個人的には「サマータイム」や「ジャニスの祈り」が大好きです。洋楽好きっていうならビートルズとジャニスの一枚くらいはもってないとねぇーと理由なく言われそうなくらい常識的な人物。
