自筆の曲解説が面白い。5はラモーンズのために書いたのに「プロデューサーに{自分用にとっとけ}と言われた」とか…。米国版「成り上がり」だもんね,考えてみれば。そう思うと安いシンセが鳴り響く710にも納得が…。15以降4曲が新曲という余録あり。

疾走感溢れるサウンド、重くズッシリ心に響く歌詞、ロックの真髄をガンガン感じるアルバムです。聴いていると、過去、現在、未来のアメリカの姿を見ているような気持ちになります。本人による直筆曲解説（対訳もちゃんと付いています）は、ファンにとっては堪らないですね。数々の名曲が作られる過程やエピソード、裏話や、曲に対する思い入れ、生の声が短い文面から伝わってきます。ブルースの人生の一端が垣間見えることも。

「明日なき暴走」「涙のサンダーロード」「ザ・リバー」「ボーン・イン・ザ・ＵＳＡ」など７０年代から８０年代にかけての大ヒット曲と９０年代に入ってグラミー賞曲となった「ストリーツ・オブ・フィラデルフィア」の頃までの曲が含まれている。新曲として加えられたのが１６~１８までの４曲（Ｗith Ｅストリートバンド!!)。

このアルバムに収められている曲は２０年間に渡っている。その期間を貫いてきたものは”ボス”のハートである。彼の熱い魂に触れることができると思う。ブックレットに、彼自身による曲紹介、そしてＥストリートバンドへの感謝、ファンへのメッセージメモが掲載されている。はじめてブルース・スプリングスティーンのＣＤを買おうと考えている人にはお薦め！

スプリングスティーンを聴いたことのない方、最新アルバム「ライジング」に共感して他のアルバムをもっていない方にお勧めいたします。
コストパフォーマンスの高い一品です。
