　A.ミンゲラ監督の「リプリー」(1999)のサントラです。観た方はご存知の通りこの映画は音楽に密接な関係をもった作品で、前半は明るくジャズやイタリアの大衆音楽に彩られ、後半はリプリーの綱渡りに合わせて沈鬱なメロディがたくさん出てきました。このサントラは、そうした二つのタイプの曲がランダムに詰め込まれたような感じになっていて、多少聴きづらくなっています。
　マット・デイモンの歌うチェット・ベイカー風の"My Funny Valentine"は、かなりひどい出来ですが、でもこの人の歌を聴けるというのは多分ここだけなので貴重でしょう。
　シニード・オコナーの"Lullaby For Cain"は今のところここでしか聴けません。しかし、ここでのオコナーは不安定でとてもこの歌を歌いこなせているとは言えないです。この曲は、不安な気持ちにさせる旋律を持った、魅力的な作品なので、残念です・・・。
　1999年のアカデミー音楽賞にはG.ヤレドがノミネートされていましたが、確かに前半のジャズの曲よりも、リプリーの心象風景を反映したかのような、G.ヤレドによる沈鬱なオリジナル・スコアの方が面白かったです。

マッド・デイモンが唄うマイ・ファニー・バレンタインも意外によいかもって・・・私はこのサントラを買ってジャズにはまりました。かなりいい曲揃ってます。それもそのはず、この映画、音楽にもかなりこだわったらしい･･･、とか。

マットデイモンの唄うマイファニーバレンタインも意外にいいかもって･･･。私はこのサントラを買ってジャズにはまりました。聴く価値かなりアリです！
