　誤解のないように記しておきたい。まずこの曲はもともとチェンバロのために書かれた曲だ。だからピアニスティックな発想で弾くのはありだが、そういう演奏は面白くても「模範的な演奏」のはずがない。そして、レオンハルトの別の録音のところで何度も書いている通り、チェンバロはタッチによる音の差も強弱の差もつけることができない、とても不自由な楽器である（実際にチェンバロに触れたり見たりすればすぐにわかる）。その楽器のために書かれた曲を、その楽器を使って弾こうとすれば、レオンハルトのアプローチは自然で説得力のあるものなのである。ピアノを用いた演奏をスタンダードとみなしてチェンバロの演奏を批判するのは、端的にわかっていないだけなのである。

最新技術のデジタルマスタリングにより、ＣＤの音ではなく臨場感のある音である。また、演奏のほうも、細かい技術にあふれている。しかし全体的にテンポが速いため、模範的演奏とは言い難い。

　ピアノだとそうでもないが、どうもチェンバロだと近年の録音との差を感じる。楽器自体、ＣＤとの相性が良くないように思う。音色が硬質で、あまり繰り返し聴く気にならない。最近の（特に日本の）チェンバロ録音との比較を勧めたい。
