藤沢嵐子は日本生まれの国際的歌手のひとり。本場のアルゼンチンで歌い、後にはアストル・ピアソラとも歌った正真正銘のタンゴの第一人者です。このディスクではご主人である早川真平率いるオルケスタ・ティピカ東京との共演。蓮っ葉な娘の恋の歌で始まり悲しい娼婦の嘆きに至り人生の黄昏までを抜群の表現力で聞かせます。音を左右中央に分けた古いスタイルの録音ですが、畳み掛ける語りと自在な歌の泣きをしっかりと捉えています。それでいて決して崩れることがなく、日本人の繊細さが美しく生きている所が藤沢嵐子の歌の最大の魅力です。
