志ん朝の話にはパワーがある。テンポのいい語り口,やわらかな気品,硬軟併せ持つ人間そのものの描き出し方には,ほれぼれとさせられる。おそらくこれがメジャーな落語なのだろう。99年にホールにて収録されたという録音状態の良さも特筆もの。気持ちのいい後味だ。

　この噺くらい、いかにばかばかしい噺が落語の真骨頂としても、設定に無理のあるものはないと思う。
　間抜けな客とためらいがちに花魁に言われるままに嘘をつき続ける仲ドンのやり取りは、師匠独特の域をもつかせぬ速射砲のようなやり取りの連続で無理なく下げまで進んでいく。少しでも、これが「嘘をついている」と~誰もがわかっているのだが~感じた瞬間に崩壊してしまう噺を見事に纏め上げたと思う。

　なお、志ん朝師匠の遺作ＣＤは重複するものが多く、気をつけなければいけないが、この噺は、幸いにして重複から免れており、ぜひとも購入しておくべきものと思う。

本CDの「お見立て」は、「文七元結」「堀の内」「化物使い」などと並び、文句ない名演だと思う。これに対して「火焔太鼓」は、（比較してしまうのは仕方ないと思うが）志ん生の残っている最良の音源に比べると、残念ながら及ばなかったと言わざるを得ない。

その意味で、他の方のﾚﾋﾞｭｰは極めて妥当なご意見だと思うが、なぜ一つのﾚﾋﾞｭｰを除いて、賛成票に比べ反対票がこんなにも多いのだろう。いつも、不思議に思うとともに、人による評価の差に驚かされる。

古今亭志ん朝。このＣＤが出たときには、これからも定期的に朝日名人会シリーズでＣＤをリリースしていくということでした。しかし、なんと残念なことか、２枚目が出る前に師は亡くなってしまいました。（２枚目は後に「志ん朝復活」のなかに収録されることになりました）

このＣＤは初めて落語を聴いてみようかという人にも、いわゆる落語通の人にもオススメできる、まさに名盤です。何度きいてもおもしろく、また感動させてもらえます。
