CDとCDケースが色別になっててとっても親切。
ブックレットの松本隆による各曲解説も面白い。
萩尾望都や斉藤由貴のエッセイも載ってる！
買い逃さなくてよかった~。

この人がドラムを叩くことをやめて、書くことを生業としたのは正しかったのだと思う。

今までに書いた膨大な数のうちのほんの一部しか収録されていないボックスなのに、
この人がいたことによって日本の歌謡曲の世界は支えられていたことがわかる。
筒美京平の「HISTORY」を聴いた時にもそう思ったが、
何と共通して収録されている楽曲の多いことか。
（それでもあまり曲がかぶらないように気をつけたというのだが）
いい詩にはいい曲がつく、逆もまた然りということなのだろうか。
ベストテン入りした曲だけで固めた「風」篇、
思い入れのある曲を集めた「街」篇。
「風」篇の最後の曲が「くもり硝子の向こうは風の街」で始まる「ルビーの指環」なのが何とも憎い演出。
「一時期、ひらがながマイブームだった」と本人が解説で言っているように、ひらがな表記の曲が多い。
ざっと見ただけでも「てぃーんず・ぶるーす」「スニーカー・ぶる〜す」「東京ららばい」「はーばーらいと」「おいらぎゃんぐだぞ」

どれもこれも名曲揃いで選ぶのが難しいけれど、私のそれぞれのベスト3は
「風」篇では太田裕美「九月の雨」イモ欽トリオ「ハイスクールララバイ」少年隊「ABC」
「街」篇では竹内まりや「五線紙」桑名正博「哀愁トゥナイト」太田裕美「ピッツア・ハウス22時」
きっと聴く人それぞれによってお気に入りは異なると思うしそれは当たり前。
そして、何故あの曲が入っていないの？と思う曲も人の数だけあると思う。
私にとってはKinki Kidsの「硝子の少年」と鈴木茂の「微熱少年」。
この2曲はあえて確信犯で入れなかったのかなと思う。
解説にあるように、いつか「風街図鑑・別巻」を出して欲しい。
たった100曲では、この人の仕事のほんの一部にしか触れられない。
それでも、そのエッセンスを凝縮したようなこの商品を手に入れたことは幸せだ。
